GUIDELINES TO CONSIDER IN THE CLASSROOM

08/05/2015

Society are increasingly aware of differences and plurality, or as we like to say in UNIVERSE ZURDO with "non-standard" people.

There is a part of the population, it is sometimes forgotten and must struggle to adapt as possible to a world made the opposite: it is left-handed people.

It is very common for a left handed person, to perform daily activities like sitting at the table to eat, must deal with the elbow of the person who is at his side, must always look for the site you are left to not disturb anyone, or being disturbed.
Generally, left-handed people should stop and think about how to do so common as introducing the metro ticket in the right environment activity.
In classroom so does, because it is during the school years when the left-handed child is learning to adapt to this world made for right handed.
Discuss below some recommendations for educators to perform in their classrooms:

1- At the beginning of course ask if any students left handed. In the event that children are very young, should be given a special interest in this topic and observation to adapt materials and arrangement of the child in the classroom if there was any left-handed child.

2- Put people lefty in the left part of the table if it is used by several children, for thus will not bother with arms. If the desks are single paddle is important that there are sufficient classroom desks with the paddle on the left for all left-handed children.

3- Ensure that the child handed him the light comes from the right to work. This side is the most appropriate, as if the light came from the left side you will create shadows and when difficult tasks such as writing.

4- Have enough material adapted to these children as scissors or rules. It is very common to find in a classroom just one or two items for lefties when more children using the left hand dominant there. And sometimes not even find adapted material and the child is obliged to attempt to use the materials upside down or with serious difficulties.

One of the most common mistakes of the population, is not giving due importance to this issue. It is important to become aware of the difficulties faced by lefthanders especially in the school year and in their daily lives, to understand that this is a world made for them upside down so they can facilitate their day.
