INFO LEFTY

14/12/2016

In the past century, lefties not passed anything because their willingness to use his left hand to write or manipulate objects was perceived as a problem until mental development, so many parents were forced to write right.
At that time it was not known that as children grow older tend to favor the use of the left hand or right-for tasks such as writing, drawing, sit at the desk, playing guitar, opening a can, among others; and that was a natural process.
The provision of a child to be left-handed, right-handed or ambidextrous tends to be defined almost at the same time that language is acquired, that is, around 4 years of age, according to research conducted by the National Library of Medicine National institutes of Health USA (PUBLIMED) and described in an article in the Business Insider that inspires this note.
Since this is known, there have been numerous studies on lefties and righties. A general conclusion drawn from most of them is that the ability to use one or the other hand, has to do with brain function.
More specifically, because the right and left hemispheres of the brain of a person, control the opposite side of the body, but as they do not have the same level of rigor in control, that determines that a person can use best either hand, which scientifically it called brain lateralization.
According to the article, language, attention and voice normally occur in the left hemisphere, which explains also that hemisphere controls the actions of the right hand (opposite side of the body) and so most people are right-handed. However, there is another theory that suggests that the process is reversed and first use hands, for example, the right and the process they follow people automatically use contributes to the development of language and voice.
This is very important because early detection of motor problems, can allow language to anticipate future problems.
Actually when children begin to crawl, walk and use their hands to pick up objects, use both hands. The definition of the hand that will choose to perform a more difficult as painting, drawing task, and later write, occurs long after they have developed their motor skills.
This explains the importance of being attentive to motor development of children because it will serve to explain their future behavior.
