Does this change what it means to be left-handed?
Being left-handed has often involved receiving unfair treatment.
"In many cultures, being left-handed is considered unfortunate or malicious, and that is reflected in language," said Professor Dominic Furniss, a hand surgeon and one of the report's authors.

In French, "gauche" means "left", but also "clumsy". In English, "right" is used in the expression "being right", which means "to be right".
"What this study shows is that being left-handed is just a consequence of brain development biology, it has nothing to do with luck or malice," explained Professor Furniss.
"It is driven, at least in part, by the genetic variants we have discovered. This adds to the understanding of what makes us human," he added.
