Is this the end of the story?
No. The best guess is that a person's dominant side depends 25% on genetics and 75% on the environment.
However, this study has found only the first 1% of that genetic component and only in a British population.
Therefore, much more work is needed to understand the genetic component of the dominant side in people around the world, regardless of the huge environmental effects, and then to reconstruct how those elements determine that people are left or right handed.
