A righteous and controversial date Every August 13, International Lefty Day is commemorated. It is carried out with the objective of raising awareness about the obstacles that may be presented to those of us who belong to this minority. The origin of the celebration dates back to 1976, when the American Dean Campbell took the initiative to highlight our uniqueness in the face of so much discrimination. The date was not a random event, but this number is by convention associated with bad luck. So the choice had to do with eliminating prejudices, since in ancient times many generations of children were punished for this. Then, in the 90s, The Left Handers Club (The Left Handers Club, which is based in England) took the proposal and made it global. In this way, in 1992 he organized a meeting that ended up being massive and, from then on, it became an annual celebration. However, the purpose of this organization is not something merely recreational, but also works in research. Likewise, it is dedicated to the development of elements and products and even advises companies related to the problem. Currently, those of us who belong to the team on the left have special notebooks, rulers, pencil sharpeners, computer keyboards, and adapted pens. Similarly, there are corkscrews with backwards spirals, softball gloves, guitars and even clocks whose hands go in the opposite direction. Finally, our adversities and frustrations were heard in the consumer society, generating a market dedicated to making things easier for us. We are not alone Among the celebrities who stand out for being left-handed are musicians Charly García, Gustavo Cerati, Jimi Hendrix, Noel Gallagher and Paul McCartney. Also, the athletes Guillermo Vilas, Rafael Nadal or Diego Maradona. But the list goes on with businessman Bill Gates; politicians Vladimir Putin, Barack Obama and Bill Clinton. Without forgetting the actors Charles Chaplin, Robert de Niro, Diane Keaton, Julia Roberts or Judy Garland. Which inevitably leads to the question: who's laughing now?
