PERPLEXS

04/04/2018

On many occasions, the results of scientific experiments leave us perplexed. And there are indications or evidences that science finds that would never have crossed our minds, as is the case of the subject that concerns us today: a new study reveals that there are certain features of the face that identify lefties.
10% of the world population has the left as the dominant hand and has aroused the interest of researchers since always, who have studied avidly its particularities and formulated all kinds of hypotheses related to the causes that can motivate this phenomenon.
Now, this new study carried out by a team of scientists from the University of Washington reveals two facial features that are more common in left-handers. After conducting three surveys and analyzing the data of 13,663 volunteers, the results show that individuals with the lower part of the thin face have a 25% greater chance of preferring the foot or left hand.
In addition, the overbite, which occurs when the upper teeth are much more advanced than the lower ones when biting, is also associated with the left and related to the thin jaw. Considering these characteristics, the distinctive facial features of left-handed people are a thin face and a convex profile.

Apart from the fine face, another feature that defines these individuals according to the study is an ectomorph body, that is, very thin complexion, a factor that would help left-handed people to differentiate themselves even more from the right-handed. "In a world dominated by the obesity crisis and by right-handers, ectomorphs may be different in their desires," explains Philippe Hujoel, director of the research. "The zurdera is another additional factor that makes them different."
